Amphetamine Psychosis

Amphetamine Psychosis

Use of Amphetamine and Methamphetamine is common in the world population. A weaker version of amphetamine is "Qaat" used in East Africa and Yemen. Amphetamine may elicit symptom compatible with psychosis which is indistinguishable from acute schizophrenia Spectrum of psychosis. This is manifested by loss of touch with reality, hallucinations and distorted perception of events.
Such symptoms does not happen from a single use of this drug. People must have used for months or years to develop psychosis.
Hallucination may be associated with all five sense:
Auditory:The user may hear voices.
Visual: Seeing people, things or animals. For example seeing a tribal leader with a bomb.
Olfactory: False perception of smelling odors.
Tactile: False perception of the sense of touch. For example user may experience a worm crawling under his skin.
Gustatory : A false perception of the sense of taste. Use may refuse to eat because he taste poison in his food.
I t is difficult to distinguish amphetamine psychosis from acute schizophrenia.

Medicine And Art: Thought SuppressionI am unable to to stop and cont...

Thought Suppression

Thought Suppression

I am unable to to stop and control the flow of my creative thoughts and memories. Perhaps it might have something to do with calibration and regulation of my thought processing. My mind is in constant dialogue with the environment. Said so my creative thoughts emerge from this dialogue. My brain captures strange environmental images. I sense I am obsessed about shapes, figures and image depths. The more I create images, the more I feel dissatisfied of my performance. I failed to halt the flow of my thoughts. I feel as if possessed by nature.

You don't have to accept what I am writing.
I am just trying to describe obsessive compulsive disorder and its impact on human performance at work and in art.

Alcohol Induced Psychosis

Alcohol Induced Psychosis.

simplistically speaking psychosis due to alcohol is a mental condition where touch with reality is compromised by delusion and or hallucination. The psychotic episode occurs during alcohol intoxication or withdrawal from it. Not everyone who drinks alcohol will develop alcohol induced psychosis. This mental condition affects close to 4% of people who are dependent on alcohol.
A rare form of alcohol psychosis is called idiosyncratic intoxication.
This occurs when a small amount alcohol causes severe reaction and intoxication. People experiencing this form of alcohol intoxication become aggressive, develop hallucinations and delusions.
After the period of intoxication elapses, the individual becomes amnesic for what occurred during the psychosis.
I have witnessed this form of alcohol intoxication during my medical school year in the former USSR.
