Vidual Hallucinations

VISUAL HALLUCINATION is a visual perception of an image in the abscence of such an image. Hallucination is different from illusion in that in an illusion an external object actually exists and is perceived, but is misinterpreted by the individual. Hallucination is similiar to a dream.The difference between the two point to the state of wakefullness. In a dream, visual perception occurs during sleep. On the other hand, hallucination is experienced while awake. Hallucination is a hallmark of psychiatric disorders including neuro degenerative disorders of the brain. Cannabis and LSD are psycho mimetic agents that also may induce impairment of sensory perceptions like visual hallucinations and illusions. This painting reflects the interaction between a hallucinating individual with a virtually non-existing image or person.
