Mortality in Children

PEDIATRIC MORTALITY During the last three decades, childhood mortality has taken a new course and reached a new peak. AIDS and the imapct of civil wars constitute a new addition to the existing list of causes of morbidity and mortality among children in Africa. In civil wars, innocent and unprotected children are inadvertenly killed or injured and can be physically disabled.. Civil war causes extreme poverty, malnutrition and the easy spread of communicable diseases and unfortunately, preventable deaths. This painting reflects the disturbed image of fallen children. To attenuate the emotional response of the viewer this image is portrayed in the form of a landscape of tropical fruits.
